Do you find yourself too busy to train your dog but want him or her to have better manners? Day Training may be a good option for you. Day Training does not require that you be present for your dog’s training sessions other than during the Introductory and Transition sessions. Our Certified Professional Dog Trainer will come to your home to work with your dog on scheduled days and times to teach the desirable behaviors you choose or help them “un-learn” unwanted behaviors. We work with your dog using positive, rewards based methods that produce results.
Day Training is a concentrated, customized training program for busy parents, working professionals and people who do not have the will or the time to learn how to be a dog trainer. You already have a job! If your family is away or busy on most workdays, day training will not only allow your dog to have a potty break, but will also provide relief from the monotony of long days alone, engage their mind and body and teach better manners. As your dog progresses toward your goal behaviors, we coach you on maintaining his or her performance in Transition sessions.
We can teach in several sessions what it might take you months to learn in group classes. Your dog benefits by learning from a certified, skilled and experienced dog trainer.
Day Training programs include unlimited email support. Programs are customized to meet your goals and needs. Day Training is ideal for teaching manners such as:
- Sit
- Come When Called
- Leave It
- Walk Nicely On Leash
- Wait
- Polite Greetings
- No Jumping
- Off
- Down
- Go To Your “Place”
At this time, Day Training is only available to residents of Skillman/Montgomery, Hopewell and portions of Princeton.
Day Training sessions are scheduled between the hours of 8 AM – 4 PM.
Day Training sessions are 45 minutes or 60 minutes, except for the Introductory session, which is 90 minutes.
Day Training sessions are held at your home and in outdoor public places. You may be, but do not have to be present for working sessions.
Introductory and Transition sessions do require your presence.
Day Training sessions are sold in packages that must be pre-paid and pre-scheduled.
Day Training is not for dogs that have aggression or other serious issues that require behavior modification.
How Does It Work?
After an initial interview to discuss the skills to be taught and design your plan for your dog, the trainer will come to your home 3 times a week and work with your dog and once a week to meet with you to transfer the skills taught. Depending on the plan and your goals, training could take one week or more.
What training methods are used?
We use proven science-based, humane methods that employ the use of operant conditioning, classical conditioning and relationship enhancement education. You learn how to motivate your dog using treats, play, social, and environmental rewards instead of constantly correcting it. This program prohibits techniques that cause pain or fear for the dogs (no choke chains, pinch or shock collars). Many of the training exercises are in the form of games to make training fun.
How much does it cost?
Costs vary according to your location and goals, starting at $225 a week for 4 sessions. Please call 609.466.7387 or e-mail cc@maverickpetpartners.com to discuss details and schedule an evaluation of your needs and goals.
